JASON WEISSBEIN is our Firm’s principal and founding attorney specializing in intellectual property protection, strategy and licensing, entertainment matters, complex business transactions, commercial litigation, and appellate practice. Our law firm works to negotiate contracts for our clients in sophisticated transactions and to artfully draft business formation forms, contracts, and other documents with clarity and effectiveness that protects our clients’ rights and mitigates the risk of liability. Our clients benefit from Mr. Weissbein’s extensive experience actively litigating thousands of cases and providing sage legal advice to many more clients. Mr. Weissbein has extensive experience handling civil litigation and appellate matters in such diverse areas as insurance defense, real estate matters, contract disputes, defamation, employment law, FCC violations, and infringement of intellectual property rights. Mr. Weissbein has over a decade of litigation and appellate practice experience garnering many successful outcomes for his clients.
Because his practice touches on areas of law that have international implications, such as intellectual property, commercial transactions, and entertainment law matters, Mr. Weissbein has augmented his expertise in relation to such issues. Toward that end he attended the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law Summer Institute for International Studies in Salzburg, Austria where he obtained a Certificate in International Law. While there he attended numerous lectures by United States Supreme Court Associate Justice Anthony Kennedy as well as from several preeminent international business attorneys. Mr. Weissbein earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL focusing in the study of law. He then graduated from law school with honors, also from Nova Southeastern University, where he was an Associate Editor of the Nova Law Review as well.
Throughout law school Mr. Weissbein was employed as a law clerk for professor and renowned constitutional and appellate attorney, Bruce Rogow. In that capacity he was extensively involved in complex and high profile litigation of both civil and criminal cases, as well as the preparation of appellate briefs. At a relatively young age he had the unique opportunity to participate in such significant matters as an eight-day civil trial in representation of a large international aviation company as well as the successful appeal of a $1.6 billion judgment in Coleman Parent Holdings, Inc. v. Morgan Stanley & Co., Inc.
Mr. Weissbein subsequently obtained an LL.M. degree from Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco, CA where he concentrated in intellectual property law - including copyrights, trademarks, and patent litigation - entertainment law, tax law, mergers & acquisitions and venture capital transactions. Prior to his time in law school, while an undergraduate student, he was employed as a paralegal and office manager for a law firm in Fort Lauderdale, FL. There Mr. Weissbein was closely involved in all of the activities and matters of the firm in areas such as probate & estates, personal injury and criminal law. Among the firm's matters was a criminal trial, dubbed “The Paratrooper Murder Trial,” which was nationally televised on CourtTV. That experience helped instill in Mr. Weissbein, the fundamentals of legal practice and consummate professionalism that he continues to nurture and embody in his legal career. He has aspired toward the legal profession since he was five years old and learned of the role attorneys carry out in the world. Mindful of those early aspirations, Mr. Weissbein endeavors to simplify complexities whenever possible and remain committed to legal fundamentals and professionalism.
Mr. Weissbein draws on his extensive litigation experience, which includes meticulous legal research, effective discovery, persuasive advocacy, and artfully drafted pleadings, briefs, and motions. His experience handling complex lawsuits, sophisticated business transactions, and thoroughly researched appellate briefs means that our clients benefit from well thought out legal strategies and effective contracts. However, he is also prepared to diligently protect our clients’ interests through litigation and is well equipped to pursue appellate relief for our clients should the need arise.
